Induction materials for teaching assistants in secondary schools
Induction training materials are provided to local authorities so that they can run courses to give new TAs the basic knowledge they need in order to support teachers in the literacy hour and mathematics lessons. The course also includes modules on behaviour management and inclusion, as well as important information about the role of TAs and the context in which they work.
The Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) is now responsible for updating and producing the induction materials for teaching assistants and school support staff. New, updated materials have been produced for 2006, which incorporate the Common core of skills and knowledge for the children's workforce. The materials are available to download and order from the TDA website.
