Excellence for all children
Foreword by the Secretary of State
Improving the achievements of children with special educational needs is part
of the crusade for higher standards launched with our White Paper,
Excellence in schools. We are determined to show that children with
SEN are capable of excellence. We want to hear from those with an interest in
SEN about what should be done to raise standards for these children. That is
why we have published, for consultation, a Green Paper called Excellence
for all children: Meeting Special Educational Needs.
We will develop a programme of action to drive forward improvements based on what you have to say. Over the next few months we shall begin a programme of early action designed to kick-start the process. We must set our sights high for all children with SEN. I hope that you will help me to make a reality of our vision.
