Teacher Workload Study

PriceWaterhouseCoopers have presented a final report to the steering group overseeing the study of teacher workload. The report sets out a range of options for tackling excessive teacher workload and promoting the most effective use of school resources. The report will be referred to the School Teachers Review Body (STRB).

The study was commissioned by Ministers to identify the main factors determining workload for teachers and head teachers and to generate potential solutions to help remove unnecessary burdens — ''freeing teachers to teach'.

PriceWaterhouseCoopers worked with 100 primary, secondary, nursery and special schools across England and Wales to investigate the full range of teachers' and head teachers' jobs.  An interim report, identifying the main drivers of excessive teacher workload, was published in August.
