Practical Support PackPSP

What is it?

The Practical Support Pack is an online collection of materials designed to help primary and Key Stage 3 secondary  teachers develop their teaching practice using ICT.

The website — www.teachernet.gov.uk/supportpack — brings together video case studies, lesson content, lesson plans, multimedia resources and ICT support materials, all organised into easily searchable modules. A key feature is the evaluation and reflection materials which help teachers assess the impact the ICT element of the lesson has on their teaching, and their pupils' learning.

How can it help?

The Practical Support Pack can help develop teaching practice using ICT by:

  • Developing teachers' confidence in using ICT as a teaching tool
  • Providing them with fresh approaches to teaching familiar topics
  • Helping them to assess the impact the ICT element of the lesson has on their teaching, and their pupils' learning.

Developing teachers' subject teaching can help raise standards in the classroom and teachers' professional development.

Strengthening pedagogy with ICT

What is it? A new interactive DVD from the Secondary National Strategy which builds on the Pedagogy and Practice: Teaching and Learning in Secondary Schools (TLSS) materials. This new material looks at the key question: how can effective use of ICT support and enhance good pedagogical approaches in classrooms?

How can it help?  It gives teachers a staff-development framework to work within and develop their confidence in identifying where ICT could be used an an appropriate tool for learning and teaching. The focus is on how the use of ICT can 'enhance' rather than simply 'replace' current practice.
