Practical Support Pack

What is it?

The Practical Support Pack is an online collection of resources designed to help primary and Key Stage 3 secondary teachers develop their teaching practice using ICT. The website features lesson plans, multimedia resources, video case studies and ICT support materials. Written by experts in teaching subjects using ICT, and with the support of the Primary and Secondary National Strategies, it has everything teachers need to teach a topic using ICT, from preparation and planning to homework and evaluation. Materials are organised into modules which can be searched by subject.

How can it help?

It can help develop subject teaching using ICT by:

  • developing teachers' confidence in using ICT as a teaching tool
  • providing them with fresh approaches to teaching familiar topics
  • helping them to assess the impact the ICT element of the lesson has on their teaching, and their pupils' learning.

Developing teachers' subject teaching can help raise standards in the classroom, and teachers' professional development. It is therefore an ideal complement to a school's professional development programme.
