Drug and Alcohol Education

The DCSF has published the report on the delivery of Drug and Alcohol Education in schools; and the Government response to the report.

A review on the effectiveness of drug and alcohol education was announced in the Children's Plan, in December 2007. In light of this commitment, the Drug and Alcohol Advisory Group was established to examine the available evidence and make a series of recommendations to the Government on how to improve the education that young people receive about drugs and alcohol.

The Government agreed with all of the recommendations made by the Advisory Group on Drug and Alcohol Education in their review.

The report from the Advisory Group on Drug and Alcohol Education is available here.

The Government response is available here.

Press notices released by the DCSF and the Advisory Group on Drug and Alcohol Education are also available.
