Building a professional community of specialists in the field of behaviour and attendance

'There is still a lack of appreciation of the abilities of the full range of professionals that work in schools...' 'The work of a crisis response worker is isolated and undervalued...' 'I have to say that this role is one of the most lonely I have been involved with...' |

The National Behaviour and Attendance Exchange (NBAE) aims to promote effective communication, provide mutual support and professional enhancement for all who work in the field of behaviour and attendance. NBAE, along with the National Programme for Specialist Leaders of Behaviour and Attendance (NPSLBA) is incorporated into the National Strategies Behaviour and Attendance programme for Secondary and Primary.
The Exchange connects existing behaviour and attendance networks by creating a facility where exchanges can take place.
Teachers and other professionals working in the field of behaviour and attendance may be actively supporting children's and young people's learning. They may also be working at different levels, with and within external agencies. These people come together to create the behaviour and attendance professional community. The Exchange pages contain information in several areas:
|
The IDEAS BANK contains case studies, useful documents, features and good ideas from the regions. |
The THEMES section lists the different
issues being particularly addressed in different parts of the country. |
|
|
The NBAE is organised by nine regional groups based within the nine Government Regions. Together, they create a national web of interconnected information and activity.
In each region, Exchange activities might include...
- Day Conferences
- Forums for Discussion
- Study Seminars
- Sharing Best Practice
- Newsletters
- Special Interest Groups
- Exploring Themes
- Developing Partnerships
Through these activities the profession will...
- develop and share effective practice
- through professional regional management groups develop an effective communication strategy within regions
- join with existing networks
- embrace and influence new national agendas and take part in their implementation
The NBAE operates in partnership with a wide range of existing support networks for behaviour and attendance professionals. The support offered by the NBAE is in addition to that already available to behaviour and attendance consultants and other leaders of behaviour and attendance through the Primary and Secondary National Strategies for School Improvement.
NBAE will promote sharing of good practice and experience at local, regional and national levels.
