Right Here, Right Now
This resource aims to facilitate effective teaching and learning of human
rights, including the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, within Key
Stage 3 citizenship. Whilst the resource is rooted in the key concept of rights
and responsibilities, human rights also underpin the other key concepts of the
new citizenship curriculum: democracy, justice, identities and diversity.
Produced as a partnership between the Ministry of Justice and the British
Institute of Human Rights (and supported by the DCSF and Amnesty
International), it is intended to help teachers bring human rights to life,
enabling them to explore with students concrete issues such as poverty and
discrimination and to facilitate challenging debates.
