Welcome to the Learning Outside the Classroom website

The Manifesto for Learning Outside the Classroom partnership has created this resource with the help of many experts and practitioners in learning outside the classroom. The resource is designed to help professionals working with young people aged 0–19 to provide high-quality experiences.

Our vision

We believe that every young person should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances.

Since its launch in November 2006, more than 1100 organisations and individuals have signed up in support of the Manifesto for Learning Outside the Classroom vision and aims. Sign up here. In addition, there is ministerial support for Learning Outside the Classroom.

The Manifesto leaflet explains more about the aims of Learning Outside the Classroom, along with some examples of good practice.

  • The new Quality Badge that will recognise organisations offering high-quality experiences with risk effectively managed.

Why not try ‘Who am I?’ to get started – it identifies areas of the site likely to be helpful to people in different professional roles.

Over the coming months the site will become more interactive and more guidance, case studies and resources will be added.
