London 2012
Get Set
Get Set, the official London 2012 education programme, is
now up and running. It has been developed by the London Organising
Committee for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), with support from
the DCSF. Driven by an interactive website featuring a whole host of flexible
resources for 3 to 19-year-olds, it will give children and young people
across the UK the chance to learn about the Olympic and Paralympic values and
play their part in the 2012 Games.
Through the website, schools, college and other learning providers who are
demonstrating a student-led commitment to the values will have the chance to
join the 'Get Set' network and receive rewards, recognition and
endorsement.
In addition, London 2012 are working with partners to develop resources across eight key themes: internationalism, communication collaboration and citizenship, practical learning, sport and PE, enterprise, sustainability and regeneration, culture and creativity and healthy, active lifestyles.
-
Host an event for teachers, other practitioners or other young people within your local area. A list of the resources and support LOCOG can provide with is outlined below.
-
Encourage your local schools and colleges to profile their activity on the Get Set map and through their own communications channels including school websites, newsletters, local newspapers, etc.

Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week
From 29 June to 3 July 2009, Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week
will take place across the country, helping to motivate pupils and fulfil
objectives for PE and school sport using the inspiration of the London 2012
Olympic and Paralympic Games and Values. The aim is simple: to help excite and
motivate pupils to do more sport by celebrating and profiling all that's
been achieved in PE within schools, and launching new sport-based initiatives.
To achieve this, the Youth Sport Trust and Lloyds TSB are providing teachers
with free resources including teacher packs, great prizes, and visits from
British Olympians and Paralympians to help inspire pupils in sport and physical
activity.
Register online to receive your free resources and find out more
about National School Sport Week.
