The National Curriculum website contains the National Curriculum for England at Key Stages 1 and 2, including statutory and other requirements. It includes information on the values, aims and purposes of the primary curriculum and looks at the National Curriculum in action and learning across the curriculum.

Independent Review of the Primary Curriculum

In April 2009 Sir Jim Rose published the final report of his review of the primary curriculum in England. The report and other related links, including examples of cross-curriculum teaching, draft programmes of learning and links to videos of headteachers talking about the review, are available on the Independent Review website.

Schemes of work, which are not statutory, can be taken as a starting point for planning. They give support and guidance for primary teachers in developing the curriculum by:

embedding English and mathematics across the curriculum
adapting schemes of work
combining units from different subject schemes.
