Pupil Achievement Tracker (PAT)
The Pupil Achievement Tracker (PAT) software was sent to all schools in October 2003 on CD-ROM and regular updates are made available from the Standards website. The PAT is a valuable tool to support Assessment for Learning (AFL). The software can be uploaded to as many computers in your school as you wish and it can also be uploaded to the network.
The PAT enables teachers, heads and others to analyse performance data. It generates information which can be used to support teaching and learning, raise standards, help identify pupils' needs and maximise their potential. It's also very useful for target-setting.
It does all this by enabling schools to look back at their own performance results and compare them to the results of pupils in other schools across the country. This is not an indiscriminate comparison: the search can be narrowed down to select schools with characteristics similar to your own.
Support and tutorials on installing and using the PAT are available from the Standards website. Your local authority may also be able to help.
See FAQs on PAT to find out more.
