Thinking of becoming a teacher?

If you're interested in teaching, there are plenty of resources to help answer your questions.

Training and Development Agency for schools (TDA)
The TDA website is a good place to start if you're considering a career in teaching. It contains information on routes into teaching, what the training involves and how to apply. You'll find information about life as a teacher, including information on how to get in touch with teachers if you have specific questions. The site also explains pay and career-progression opportunities and opportunities for training bursaries and funding.

If you'd like to speak to somebody in person about teacher training, call the TDA's Teaching Information Line for personal advice: 0845 6000 991 (for English speakers), 0845 6000 992 (for Welsh speakers) or 0117 915 8161 (minicom).

Golden Handcuff
Secondary teachers could receive £10 000 to stay in a school facing challenging circumstances for three years. The Golden Handcuff is available to teachers joining schools in the academic years 2009/10 and 2010/11.
