The Social Work Task Force
Wednesday 29 July 2009
The Task Force was commissioned to undertake a comprehensive review of frontline social work practice.
It was also asked to make recommendations for improvements and long-term reform.
Following an initial report in May, in the form of a letter to the Secretaries of State for Health, and Children, Schools and Families, the second interim report has now been published. This sets out advice to the Government about the state of social work in England at present, and the nature and content of the comprehensive reform programme that will be necessary to achieve improvement.
An electronic version of the report can be found here.
The work of the Task Force will continue over the coming months, leading
up to its final report, later this year, which will recommend how improvements
could be made in social worker training, recruitment and leadership.
