AfL E-Bulletin launched

The DCSF has launched its Assessment for Learning (AfL) E-Bulletin.
Published termly, the Bulletin keeps colleagues in schools and Local Authorities who have responsibilities and interests in formative assessment up to date with the latest news and developments in assessment for learning, and points to useful new resources.
Topics in the first issue include:
- what AfL will deliver to children, teachers, schools and parents/carers
- dispelling the assessing pupils' progress (APP) myths
- AfL in practice at Heathcote School, Stevenage
- assessment at KS3.
In the 2008/09 financial year schools are benefitting from £50 million to develop CPD in AfL. Details of the funding for the 2009/10 financial year will be released in a future E-Bulletin.
