Guidance on using the secure website to transfer Common Transfer Files
(CTF)
8 August 2006
Guidance Notes (for schools and Local
Authorities) to clarify the creation and use of the CTF are available for
download. Local Authorities are asked to ensure that copies of this guidance
note are made available to all schools within the LA. LAs (and software
suppliers) may wish to draw attention to this publication with a link from
their Web Site.
The CTF is very important to the welfare and education of every child and we hope this guidance will encourage schools to be more proactive in using the CTF to transfer pupil data.
Local Authorities may wish to take particular note of Annexe A covering occasions when standard rules to forward a CTF for a pupil might not apply, paying particular attention to Paragraphs 5 and 6. Statutory guidance for LAs on this point was isssued in February 2007 and is available on the Every Child Matters website http://www.everychildmatters.gov.uk/resources/ig00202/
