Contains the Financial Management Standard which is a simple statement of what a school that is well financially managed would look like, a supporting Toolkit, and a self-assessment tool for schools to check if they meet the Standard. - FMSiS guidance All secondary schools will be expected to achieve the Financial Management Standard in Schools (FMSiS) by March 2007. This new guidance outlines the process for providing assurance that schools meet the Standard, including the procedure for schools to receive an external assessment for formal recognition of achieving the Standard.

Allows local authorities (LAs) and School Forums to compare authorities' planned spending. - The Per Pupil Funding Series gives total revenue funding per pupil aged 3-19 in real terms, by local authority, for each year since 1997/98. This series is updated regularly, notably for changes in the GDP deflators used to convert the underlying cash figures to real terms.

The Financial Management in Schools Programme conducted during 2004/05 has ended, but online resources used for it are still available on the Financial Management in Schools website. A successor programme, Supporting Schools' Financial Management (SSFM) is under development and further details will be announced in due course. SSFM, however, is aimed at LAs rather than schools.
