Schools Capital Guidance 2008-09 to 2010-11
This guidance is for use by those who manage or are accountable for the funds
allocated for capital investment in schools by the DCSF. It includes all
capital programmes for schools from 2008 to 2011.
As signalled in the Children's Plan, the Department is committed to running their capital programmes in a more coherent and consistent manner to help local agencies increase co-location of services for children, young people and families.
The guidance consists of:
- the overall aims and intentions for schools capital investment
- common financial and accounting aspects which apply to all capital programmes
- the roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders
- objectives and detailed guidance for each of the Schools Capital programmes

Feedback
This guidance has been substantially revised and is correct as at 24
January 2008 and relates to the three financial years 2008-09, 2009-10 and
2010-11. It is expected that there may be some corrections and
improvements to be made over time, and further guidance produced if additional
funding announcements are made. For each page of detailed guidance for the
relevant programme, the version number and last amendment date are shown at the
bottom of the page.
The DCSF is keen to have feedback on this guidance to allow it to develop it over time so it better meets your needs. If you have any comments, please email schools.capital@dcsf.gsi.gov.uk
