Revised Guidance for calculating the pay of part-time teachers (Version 2)

Following the School Teachers' Review Body (STRB) recommendations in its 16th and 17th (parts 1 and 2) reports, important changes to the pay arrangements for part-time teachers were introduced from 1 September 2008. Further information on the changes are available as follows:

  • Revised additional guidance relating to the new arrangements for calculating the pay and working time of part-time teachers is now available. The changes were necessary following identification of some errors in the STPCD 2008. This is also likely to necessitate the preparation of a revised pay order later in the year to amend the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document 2008.
  • Further notes on the necessary change to the STPCD are available here.
  • A part-time pay calculator is available in Excel format.

Notice of changes to short-notice teachers to be introduced during 2008/09

  • Initial guidance on new arrangements for identifying the holiday element of short-notice teachers' pay and circumstances when it should be paid separately.
