The Department also issued Explanatory notes for the STPCD 2006.
The RIG submitted supplementary evidence in the form of a letter to the STRB.

The RIG (comprising ASCL, ATL, DfES, NASUWT, NEOST and PAT) submitted joint evidence to the STRB in July 2006 in response to the Secretary of State's May 2006 remit. This evidence covers a number of key issues, including part-time teachers' pay, performance management reviews and pay progression, special educational needs (SEN) allowances and teachers' professional duties.
Salary sacrifice and changes to the Advanced Skills Teachers (AST) pay spine
The May 2006 Pay Order came into effect on 1 June 2006, amending the STPCD 2005 to make it possible for teachers to participate in salary sacrifice arrangements (where offered by their employers). It provided details of the pay spines for ASTs from 1 September 2006 and 1 September 2007. Sections 2 and 3 of the STPCD 2005 were updated to reflect the changes. The explanatory notes were also updated.

On 16 February 2006 the Secretary of State released a press notice regarding the pay recommendations of the STRB. Pay scales for 2006 to 2008 were accepted.
