This area of TeacherNet contains details of teachers' pay from 1997. It includes recent editions of the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document and its associated guidance, along with other publications relating to the annual pay cycle. These include DCSF evidence to the School Teachers' Review Body (STRB), along with copies of the STRB reports and copies of the letter sent to statutory consultees about proposed changes.

Unattached Teachers' Report — 26 June 2007 

The letter to the OME, along with the Department's unattached teacher investigation report about the pay and conditions of unattached teachers was sent to the STRB on 26 June. 

Remit to Undertake Review of Teachers' Pay — 5 June 2007

Alan Johnson, the then Secretary of State wrote to the STRB about the teachers' pay review mechanism in their 15th report. He concluded the best course would be for the STRB to consider these concerns — alongside other evidence about retention and recruitment and the impacts on budgets.

School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document 2007 (STPCD)

The pay order for the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document 2007 (STPCD) (section 2) was laid before Parliament on 8 August. It has been approved by Parliament and came into force on 01 September. It is available as either a PDF document or as a four-part Word document.

You can access the STPCD Explanatory Notes For Heads, Governors And Local Authorities. There is also a version available in the Welsh language.

Hard copies of the STPCD were available from September as follows:

  • Two copies will be sent to all schools in Wales.
  • Schools in England can order one free copy from Teachernet Online Publications or by ringing 0845 60222 60, quoting reference DCSF 00549-2007DOM-EN. Schools which order a copy this year will be sent a copy in future years automatically.
  • One copy will be sent to chairs of governors in England.
  • Two copies will be sent to all local authorities in England and Wales.

Further copies may be ordered from The Stationery Office.

Salary Sacrifice expression of interest form

Teachers wishing to participate in salary sacrifice arrangements provided by their employer can use the expression of interest form. This also contains guidance on salary sacrifice for teachers and links to further advice.

Teaching and learning responsibility (TLR) payments

RIG has recently published their fourth RIG note on the teaching and learning responsibility (TLR) payments, which clarify the principle of awarding teachers with TLRs.

The 2007 Model Pay policy has now been updated for 2007. There is also a version available in the Welsh language.

The Safeguarding Guidance and Examples have been updated for 2007 along with Guidance Notes on General Safeguarding for Teachers
