CBDS material prior to September 2009
October 2009 revision
Since October 2009, a new database version of the CBDS has become available, replacing all the separate datasets previously offered. Details are on the CBDS page in Section 04.
April 2009 update
The Pupil Level and School Level CBDS have been updated to reflect new and amended data items as a result of the 2010 Pupil Referral Unit (PRUs) Census specification.
The School Level CBDS is an interim version only to make the PRUs changes available. A new completely updated modular version will be published as soon as it is available.
The review of the CBDS is ongoing and further updated versions will reflect any changes made as part of that review.
February 2006 update
The Pupil and School Level CBDSs have been updated to reflect new or amended data items as a result of the 2007 School Census specifications.
As part of the ongoing CBDS review, the Pupil CBDS has been reformatted into modules, grouping CBDS items by topic. Additionally, some new items suggested by schools and LEAs at focus groups have been included. All changes to both Pupil and School Level CBDSs are highlighted in the change registers.
As some of the new items have not been through the Change Control process, we would welcome any comments about them. Your comments can be sent to changecontrol.cbds@dcsf.gsi.gov.uk.
Any suggestions for change to the new items or other existing CBDS items should be made on the Request for Change form included with the Change Control documentation.
CBDS change control
The Change Control Procedures document outlines a change control process for proposing changes, consulting on changes, approving changes and publishing revisions to CBDS (and CBDS look up tables) and School Census specifications. This document replaces CBDS Change Control Guidelines and Protocols published in December 2003 (archived at Previous CBDS specifications).
August 2005 update
The Pupil and School CBDS have been updated to reflect new or amended data items in the specifications for data collections in 2006. The LEA CBDS has been updated to reflect School CBDS changes.
