This is the home page of the Data Sub Programme, bringing together Information Management in Schools (IMS) and the School Census. The combined website was launched in September 2005 with seven sections covering:
- information management in schools and local authorities (LAs)
- the collection and dissemination of data between schools, LAs and the Department and partners, including the School Census, PLASC and SLASC
- dialogue between the Department, LAs, suppliers of MIS, and other partners.

02 Data collections
This section sets out the arrangements and specifications for:

03 Data transfers
This section provides:

descriptions, specifications and arrangements for the use of the Common Transfer File (CTF)

transfer files related to co-ordinated admissions

the submission of teacher assessments (TAs) to the National Assessment Agency (NAA)
04 Data management
This section covers:

the Fair Processing Notices (FPN) for pupils and the school workforce

recording of pupils' absence and attendance at school

data definitions, specifications and arrangements related to the common basic data sets (CBDS)

05 Data dissemination
This section covers the Data Dissemination and Access project,
initiated in mid-2005, to help the Department and its partners make the most
effective use of available school and pupil-related data.

This section provides information for MIS software suppliers and
reports of meetings.
07 Training and qualifications
This section covers training and qualifications for school and LEA
staff in information management and the use of data.
