Educational Procurement Centre (EPC)
It has never been more important for schools to get the best value from their
budgets. The aim of the Educational Procurement Centre (EPC) programme, fully
funded by the DCSF, is to provide schools with the skills, tools and support to
help them buy better. EPC works across the schools sector to promote and
support more sustainable procurement practices and effective contract
management.
How can EPC help?
Members of the EPC field force — School Procurement Partners
— work with schools to see where money can be saved, and to help identify
best practice and training opportunities. EPC will focus on supporting those
responsible for procurement in schools to leave them in a position to be
self-supporting in the long term, and free from time consuming administrative
burdens.
Schools can also take advantage of buying their goods and services on OPEN
— a nationwide e-procurement system which has been designed to link
schools more effectively with suppliers. The wider EPC service will help
schools to get the best from their budgets — allowing them to concentrate
on fulfilling their primary function — educating children.
EPC vision
'To build and deliver a sustainable procurement infrastructure
for schools, enabling them to obtain the best from their commercial
environment.'
