Threshold assessment

Threshold assessment provides good teachers with an opportunity to apply for a consolidated pay increase of £2,148 and access more pay. It is open to all qualified teachers in England and Wales who are legally covered by the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document, are paid on the qualified teachers' pay scale and who are placed on M6 of the pay scale for classroom teachers as defined by qualifications and the number of experience points.

Teachers who are legally covered by the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD) 2002 or by the STPCD 2003; and have Qualified Teacher Status; and are paid on point M6 of the main pay scale for qualified classroom teachers; relevant points are those for qualifications and experience, including experience points awarded on a discretionary basis by governing bodies are invited to apply for the Threshold Assessment in 2003 (Round 4). Eligible teachers who wish to apply in Round 4 should submit their completed applications to their head teachers/service managers on or before 1 December 2003. Teachers must apply by this date if they wish to be considered for promotion to the upper pay scale from 1 September 2004.
