Introduction
On 30 November 2005, the UK Poet Laureate Andrew Motion unveiled the Poetry Archive, a new free online resource that will make available recordings of English language poets reading their own work.
Hearing a poet read their own work is an exciting experience which can bring depth and insight to the words on a page. The Poetry Archive will ensure that audio recordings exist of all our best-loved poets, and will be continually added to in order to include new digital recordings of leading poets as well as historic readings by poets of the past, providing an invaluable educational resource.
