FILMCLUB 2008 - 22 July, 2008
Inspired by the idea that film can broaden the mind in extraordinary and unexpected ways, FILMCLUB, an after-school club giving children free weekly access to thousands of classic and popular films, is to be launched across the UK, building to 7000 films over the next three years. TeacherNet went to the launch to find out more and talked to the founders of FILMCLUB and supporting celebrities including actors Emma Thompson and Thandie Newton, to name but a few.

- GirlsActive featuring Dame Kelly Holmes-21 December, 2007. Tanya Irvine, partnership development manager, central school sport Partnership, works with students to implement changes within their school that will encourage their peers to get more active.
- Black History Month 2007. Maggie Spence, Inclusion Manager, and teacher Jasmin Williams gave TeacherNet an overview of what they have organised this years Black History Month. Ten-year-old student Destiny, who participated in an Islington Borough Black History Month workshop, talks about her experience and how she benefited.
- Post -16 education and training webcast -21 August, 2007 at 3:00pm. Education journalist Mike Baker discussed the future of post-16 education and training with John Stone from the Learning and Skills Network, focusing on why the Leitch report is so crucial to reform and how schools and colleges will respond.
- Exploding the exclusion myth webcast —

Pool Business and Enterprise College has developed a non-exclusion policy for dealing with disruptive students. Jeremy Rowe, Deputy Headteacher and Benamon Tame manager of the Inclusion Unit explain how their approach has had positive benefits for both students and teachers . View the webcast here. - Anti-social and crime damage webcast: Operation Mullion, 16 Feb, at 3p.m. A case study into anti-social behaviour and crime damage, TeacherNet interviews Jackie Jones, Deputy Head, Mayfield School, Portsmouth and Stephen Hawkins, Police Constable and Neighbourhood Officer, Hampshire Constabulary.
- On 9 January, between 3 and 4pm, a panel of experts from the DfES's SEN strategy team and an autistic-spectrum discorder (ASD) expert answered your general questions relating to SEN Strategy and specific questions on ASD. View the TeacherNet hotseat .
- PSHE hotseat: On 5 December 2006 at 3pm, John Lloyd — Adviser for Citizenship Education and member of the PSHE working group — answered your questions about PSHE organisation and management. Find out about continuing professional development, acquiring certification and maintaining standards; discuss particular issues such as sex and relationships education and drugs.

- Key Stage 2 Framework for Languages hotseat: Dr Lid King, National Director for Languages, and Kate Green, Project Director, answered questions on the recently launched Key Stage 2 Framework for Languages, the cornerstone of the Government's National Languages Strategy, together with the DfES's National Language Recognition Scheme 'The Languages Ladder' which is currently being rolled out across England.
