National anti-bullying poetry anthology
Used in the right way, words can be very powerful.
The National Anti-bullying Poetry Anthology was launched in the lead up to Anti-bullying Week on 21 November 2005. The anthology contains the winning and shortlisted poems from the 2004 anti-bullying poetry competition, which highlight many of the issues around bullying, including homophobia and racism. Nearly 6,000 entries were received from children and staff in primary, secondary and special schools from around the country.
The book contains comments from the celebrity judges and a special poem by poet Andrew Fusek Peters.
The anthology is intended to be used as both a teaching resource, for example within Literacy lessons, and a platform on which to raise the issue of bullying. Hard copies of the full anthology are available from the Online Publications website.
